Hein Willemse, University of Pretoria, Pretoria, South Africa

Besides lecturing at the University of the Western Cape and Pretoria Hein Willemse was a visiting professor at several universities in Southern Africa, North and Central America, inter alia as visiting scholar to the Colégio de México, México DF, México, and Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence at Grinnell College in Iowa, USA. He taught courses on African Thought and Literature, Comparative Literature, Afrikaans Literature, critical literary theory and Oral Literature Studies. His research concentrates on the theorization of black marginality in Afrikaans literature and oral traditions. He has contributed numerous academic articles in his chosen field and wrote, edited or co-edited 13 book-length publications.
